117 Shares Today, I give you one of my favorite tools and The Not So Secret Ingredient to a Great Mix: Saturation With all of the sales hype and marketing shoved in our faces on a daily basis, it can be difficult to determine what is and isn’t necessary to achieve a “great” mix. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy gear.
Softube has released Saturation Knob as a free download. Saturation Knob can be used in any VST, Audio Units or AAX host—and also as a Rack Extension in Propellerhead’s Reason—on both Mac and Windows platforms. For VST, AAX and Audio Units, Saturation Knob is part of the installer package, which includes all Softube plug-ins. I tried the softube saturation knob — but I get a better, cleaner, thicker effect using the Stilwell Event Horizon limiter and lightly adjusting the Threshold knob. It really behaves like a an input drive. Just passing along another (sorta free) gem in the same saturation category.
